TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In preparation for the upcoming ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono promised to form a National Committee. The committee will consist of various elements of the business world, ministers, governors, and economists.
"Let's solve the problem together. The public must also support this," Yudhoyono said in during a speech at the 2013 Young Leaders Forum 2013 held by the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HPMI) at the Ritz-Carlton, yesterday.
The president stated, like it or not, Indonesia should be prepared to face the AEC. Yudhoyono also noted many things to be improved including competitiveness and infrastructure. In addition, he said it is vital to eliminate overly bureaucratic processes that have been hindering these goals.
The President agreed with HPMI's statement that the country needs to guard its politics and economics policies to face ASEAN free market as well as welcoming the 2014 election. "Let's not get obstructed by political instability because it would affect the business world," he said.
